John Ko
John Sam Pong Ko, 88, of Hilo died March 24, 2013 at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 17, 1924, in Kukaiau, he was the retired owner of the former Kilauea Hotel, a World War II Army veteran and member of Wanderers Athletic Club of Hilo and Born Losers Golf Club.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by daughters, April (Robert) Atebara, Barbara (Patrick) Tani and Donna (Clyde) Aoki, all of Hilo; sister, Diane (Renwick) Moniz of San Bruno, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces.
