BASEBALL

c Hawaii 6, UC Santa Barbara 2: Corey MacDonald struck out six in a complete-game four-hitter, and the Warriors broke a 2-2 tie with a four-run seventh to turn back the Gauchos Friday in Honolulu.

MacDonald (3-2) walked two batters and threw 108 pitches to get the win.

Jerry Kleman drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Conner George. Stephen Ventimiglia followed with a run-scoring single, and Piikea Kitamura capped the inning with a two-run double. Kitamura and Kaeo Aliviado both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Hawaii (1-1 Big West, 6-17 overall).

Justin Jacome took the loss for UC-Santa Barbara (1-1, 13-11). In 6 1/3 innings, he gave up three runs on four hits, striking out six and walking two.

At the plate, Kelly Dalton went 2-for-3 for the Gauchos.

SOFTBALL

c Hawaii 5, UC Davis 4: Keiki Carlos hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 10th inning, her second of the night, to send Hawaii past UC Davis on Friday in Honolulu.

The Rainbow Wahine (26-7 overall, 4-0 Big West Conference) rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 3-1 to remain perfect in conference play.

Carlos finished the day 2-for-4 with four RBIs. She had a three-run home run in the fifth that gave Hawaii a 4-3 lead. But UC Davis tied the game in the sixth to force extra innings. Kelly Majam added a solo home run for Hawaii, and Jazmine Zamora went 2-for-4.

Kaia Parnaby (24-3) pitched all 10 innings for the win. She gave up four runs — three earned — on nine hits and three walks. She struck out 11.

Justine Vela (8-3) suffered the loss for UC Davis (13-15, 0-1). She gave up five runs on eight hits and five walks. She also struck out 11.

Kelly Schulze went 2-for-3, including a two-run homer in the first inning. JJ Wagoner went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jasmine Lee went 2-for-4.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

c UC-Santa Barbara def. Hawaii 25-23, 25-21, 18-25, 25-22: Miles Evans had 14 kills and nine digs, and Evan Licht followed with 12 kills and 11 digs for the Gauchos Friday in Honolulu.

Evans ended both the first and second sets with kills, while Dylan Davis added nine kills and hit .533 for No. 8 UC-Santa Barbara (9-10 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, 12-12 overall).

Also, Austin Kingi served four aces for the Gauchos, which outhit Hawaii .280-.260.

Brooke Sedore led the Warriors (8-13, 9-15) with 15 kills and nine digs.

Sinisa Zarkovic added 13 kills, and JP Marks hit .364 and had 12 kills.

Joby Ramos collected 12 digs.
