A man believed to be in his 70s apparently drowned Wednesday afternoon in waters of Kahaluu Beach Park in North Kona.

A man believed to be in his 70s apparently drowned Wednesday afternoon in waters of Kahaluu Beach Park in North Kona.

Responding to a 3:38 p.m. report, fire rescue personnel found Hawaii County lifeguards performing CPR on the man, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. Lifeguards had pulled the man from the water after the victim’s wife notified them he was floating face down in the water.

Medics transported the man to Kona Community Hospital where he died. No further information on his identity was available as of press time.
