Dorothy Kaui o makaweli o nalani kauai o mano o kalani po hakiu Beyer, 87, of Volcano died Feb. 24, 2013, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 8, 1925, in Koolaupoko, she was a hula instructor, florist, front desk clerk at Volcano House and kupuna at Mountain View Elementary School.

She is survived by sons, Carl Kalani, Alika and Emil Keawehunahala Beyer; daughters, Catherinealice Naniwa Makizuru and Jacqueline Montgomery; brothers, Paul Johnston and William Johnston; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
