The Kailua-Kona and Kealakekua public libraries, as well as Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library will be open Saturday.

Egg Rush slated for Saturday morning
Solid Rock Ministries’ Egg Rush kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Old Kona Airport.
More than 40,000 eggs filled with goodies and slips to redeem for other items will be scattered across the park’s soccer field for the event. Children — younger than 11 — will be separated by age group for the free hunt. On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Day at Hulihee scheduled for Saturday
The grounds of Hulihee Palace will be the site of an annual spring fundraiser, Day at Hulihee, Saturday. An 8:30 a.m. traditional Hawaiian blessing kicks off the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event, hosted by the Daughters of Hawaii and the Calabash Cousins.
The event, which honors the memory of Hawaii’s citizen prince, Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, features arts and crafts booths, a bake sale and Classy Tutu’s Attic. The Kuakini Hawaiian Civic Club will offer food, and hula halau will provide cultural entertainment. Prize drawings will be held throughout the day.
Palace admission will be complimentary during the event, though donations will be accepted.
The palace is open for self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Regular admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and $1 for keiki. For details, contact the palace at 329-1877 or visit daughtersofhawaii.org.
Church to serve Easter meal for homeless
The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity will serve Easter dinner for Kona’s homeless at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kailua Pier. Dinner will include meatloaf, potato salad, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and dessert. Maggie Brown of Body Glove Cruises will provide beverages. The church will also distribute Band-Aid kits and plastic Easter eggs filled with candy.
In January, the church received a $5,000 Economic Outreach Bridge Grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The funding was awarded based on the effectiveness of the church’s Help Everyone Regardless of Outcome and Making Change for Change ministries, which address basic needs of the community by providing meals and gift cards for homeless people along Alii Drive.

FoodCorps application deadline extended
Individuals interested in becoming Hawaii FoodCorps service members have until Sunday to submit applications. The national FoodCorps is recruiting service members throughout Hawaii to help connect keiki to real food and help them grow up healthy. FoodCorps addresses childhood obesity and food insecurity in underserved communities; The Kohala Center is its host in Hawaii.
FoodCorps is seeking to hire 10 members in Hawaii. Applicants must be 18 years or older and hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. More information, including benefits, job description and an online application, is available at foodcorps.org/become-a-service-member.
