Benjamin Alaelua Canonigo, 48, of Kailua-Kona died March 9, 2013, at his residence. Born July 21, 1964, in Honolulu, he was a security officer at the Kona Police station cell block and a former cook at Alex Drive In, Michael’s Drive In and Violet’s Grill.

Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. March 23 at Kona Life Church, 75-5699 Alii Drive, above Scandinavian Shave Ice in Kailua-Kona, for an 11 a.m. service. Luncheon and fellowship follow. Family requests casual attire be wornand no flowers.

He is survived by son, Kaleo (Anna) Alves-Bulawan of Kailua-Kona; siblings, Richard Canonigo of San Francisco, Patrick (Roxanne) Canonigo of Honolulu, Thersa Herbert and Therrianne Canonigo, both of Kailua-Kona, Vaa Alaelua, Saga Alaelua and Leilani Alaelua, all of Samoa; one grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
