County offers keiki Easter craft class
The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation will host a free Easter craft class for keiki on Wednesday.
Children between ages 6 and 14 may take part in the class that will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the county’s Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona. All materials and supplies will be provided by the county.

Zumba classes
under way for seniors
The spring 10-week session of Elderly Recreation Services’ Zumba Gold classes has begun. Classes run from 5 to 6 p.m. through May 14, excluding holidays, at the West Hawaii Civic Center’s open air pavilion.
Registration is open to anyone 55 and older. The $10 per session fee may be paid at the civic center or to the class instructor.

Englebert to discuss feng shui in Kealakekua
Clear Englebert will address the differences between schools of feng shui, explain chi energy and how to attract and maximize its beneficial flow when he talks from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kealakekua Public Library.
Englebert will explain how to deflect negative energy. He will also discuss furniture selection and placement, locating powerful spots within a room and dealing with clutter.
Englebert is the author of “Feng Shui for Hawaii” and “Feng Shui for Hawaii Gardens.”

Grant available for women returning
to the work force
Kona Business and Professional Women is accepting applications for its annual Grant for Success offered to women returning to the work field or trying to improve their work status through continuing education. For more information or an application, call Mary Reynolds at 334-0077.

Fruit growers
meeting Monday
The Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers West Hawaii chapter will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the University of Hawaii Experiment Station in Kainaliu, across from Aloha Theatre. Nonmembers are welcome to attend.
Ray Anders will speak about High Pressure Processing. This technology is used to ship avocado halves from Mexico to the mainland U.S. This process is not subject to APHIS regulations and product can be shipped to the mainland following FDA guidelines. The process destroys food-borne pathogens, retards spoilage and can be used to package guacamole and other items made from locally grown fruit that could not be shipped otherwise.
Bring fruit for sampling.
