c Hawaii 2, Gonzaga 0: Hawaii improved to 2-15 on the season with Tuesday’s win over Gonzaga.

Matt Cooper pitched a complete-game three-hitter to earn the win. He walked none.

First baseman Marc Flores went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Hawaii, and Conner George and Piikea Kitamura each went 2-for-4. Stephen Ventimilia added a hit and an RBI.

Ventimilia’s single in the third scored Austin Wobrock to give Hawaii the 1-0 lead. He later scored on Flores’ single.

Billy Moon suffered the loss for Gonzaga (9-5-1). He gave up two runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings.

Mitchell Gunsolus went 2-for-4 to lead the Bulldogs.

SOFTBALL

c Hawaii 4, East Carolina 0: Hawaii used a four-run fifth inning to claim the win.

Keiki Carlos hit a bases-loaded single to score Brynne Buchanan, and Kely Majam scored on a fielding error to put Hawaii ahead 2-0. Jessica Iwata hit an RBI single, and Leisha Liilii hit an RBI double to cap the scoring.

Carlos and Iwata led the Warriors (18-5) at the plate, going 2-for-3.

Kaisa Parnaby (16-2) pitched a complete game, struck out 12 and walked none.

Sarah Christian (6-7) suffered the loss. She gave up four runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out four.

Nobody from East Carolina (8-15) paired hits.

c Zarkovic earns national honor: University of Hawaii freshman outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic won another award on Tuesday when he was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men’s Division I-II National Player of the Week.

Zarkovic helped lead the Warriors to a two-match sweep of then-No. 13 USC.

In the first match, Zarkovic tied a team high with 16 kills, hit a team-best .452 and also recorded 10 digs for his third double-double of the season. Zarkovic notched two of his four service aces in the deciding fifth set. In the rematch on Sunday, the freshman smashed another 12 kills on .400 hitting to go along with his seven digs.
