MEN’S BASKETBALL

In a nutshell: Hawaii will close the Big West regular season at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, when the Warriors play at Cal State-Northridge (13-17, 4-13). In the previous meeting between the teams, Hawaii earned a 74-71 victory at Stan Sheriff Center on Dec. 29, with Christian Standhardinger and Isaac Fotu scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively … The Warriors dropped from a tie for third place to fifth place in the Big West after a 64-61 loss to Cal Poly on Saturday at Stan Sheriff Center. … With just two games separating second-place Pacific (11-5) and sixth-place UC-Davis, Hawaii can finish as high as second and as low as sixth in the conference. … The Big West tournament begins March 14 with four quarterfinal matchups. The semifinals are scheduled for the following day and the championship game set for March 16. All games will take place at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
