Sophie Frances Olive Kalanikini Piko, 84, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 26, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 28, 1928, in Honolulu, she was a retired catechism instructor, a former counselor in state employment office and member of Hawaii Government Employees Association, Kalihi Palama Cultural Arts and Kona Adult Center.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. March 14 at A Hui Hou Crematory & Funeral Home in KailuaKona. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. March 15 at St. John’s The Baptist Catholic Church, 2324 Omilo Lane, Honolulu, for and 11 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery in Honolulu.

She is survived by sons, Joseph Piko III of Kailua-Kona, Paul Piko of Oahu; daughters, Laida Piko of Maui, Deedee Furtado and Maureen (Nani Duke) Giron, both of Kailua-Kona; brother, Samuel (Bertha) Nahoopii Jr. of Oahu; sisters, Gladys Hoe and Maryanne Dudoit, both of Oahu; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
