UNLV starter Mark Shannon (1-0) allowed one run in seven innings to earn the win. At the plate, he went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a game-high four RBIs. Joey Swanner was 3-for-4 with one RBI, and Justin Jones added two hits, two runs and two RBIs.
Matt Cooper (0-2), after struggling in the first inning, battled through five complete innings before Lawrence Chew came in to start the sixth inning. Cooper left after allowing four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
Andre Real and Piikea Kitamura both went 2-for-4 to lead the Warriors. Kitamura also scored Hawaii’s one run scored.

Parnaby claims Big West honor: University of Hawaii senior Kaia Parnaby earned her second Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week honor after going 5-0 with a 0.80 ERA this past week in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.
The southpaw pitched five complete games, not allowing an earned run on three occasions en route to earning Bank of Hawaii Invitational Most Valuable Pitcher honors. In her five appearances, she threw 35 innings, issued seven walks and struck out 40. Parnaby held opponents to a .212 average on the week.
Parnaby has won in her past eight starts.
