Host UNLV (9-3) scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and led 12-0 after the fifth on the way to a victory Sunday in the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas.
Sophomore left fielder Joey Swanner went 2-for-5 with an RBI, including a leadoff double that helped the Rebels start the rout early.
Senior Jon Flinn (0-1) lasted only a third of an inning for UH, allowing five runs on five hits and one walk. All runs were earned.
Patrick O’Rourke pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief. He gave up seven runs on 11 hits. Bryan Burgher finished the game, pitching three shutout innings.
Hawaii (1-11) managed a pair of runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Conner George led the Warriors with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate. He also drove in a run and hit a triple. Alan Baldwin and Adam Hurley each hit a double.
Kenny Oakley (2-0) earned the win for the Rebels. He scattered five hits over 6 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out five and did not allow a run.
Matt McCallister went 3-for-5 with an RBI for UNLV. Scott Tomassetti went 2-for-5, Joey Armstrong went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Justin Jones had two hits and two RBIs, Brandon Bayardi went 2-for-3, and Mark Shannon went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
The two teams play again at 4:05 p.m. today. Hawaii returns home and hosts Gonzaga for a five-game series starting Friday.

c Hawaii wins Bank of Hawaii Invitational: Jessica Iwata’s three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning gave the Rainbow Wahine all the runs they would need as Hawaii won its tournament Sunday with a 3-0 win over Western Kentucky.
Hawaii (13-5), seeded third after round-robin play, defeated Memphis 5-1 in Sunday’s early game. Western Kentucky defeated Campbell 8-5 in the other semifinal.
Kaia Parnaby (11-2) pitched all seven innings in the win over WKU (8-5). She gave up three hits and one walk while striking out seven. The win marked her fourth shutout and 12th complete game of the year.
Hawaii managed only six hits in the game. Iwata went 2-for-3, Kelly Majam went 2-for-4, and Keiki Carlos went 2-for-3 with a double.
The offense finally broke through against Mallorie Sulaski (2-2) when Kayla Wartner reached on a two-base error to lead off the sixth. Brynne Buchanan pinch ran for her, and Carlos walked.
That set up Iwata for her home run.
Sulaski gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings. She also struck out four. Katrina Metoyer led WKU at the plate, going 2-for-2.
In the win over Memphis, Parnaby was again the winner. She pitched all seven innings, gave up one run on five hits and struck out eight. She walked none.
Majam led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Carlos and Jazmine Zamora added a double each.
The Rainbow Wahine scored the game’s first runs in the second when Zamora hit a two-run double. Majam hit her homer in the third, and Carlos added her two-run double in the fourth.
Jordan Richwood (3-3) suffered the loss. She gave up three runs on three hits in three innings. She walked two and struck out three.
Ijiah Hargrove led Memphis (7-11) at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
c Cal State Northridge def. Hawaii 25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 25-15: Hawaii lost another home match on Sunday, falling in four sets to No. 8 Cal State Northridge.
No. 11 Hawaii saw its record fall to 5-12 overall and 4-10 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Cal State Northridge improved to 9-6, 7-6.
CS Northridge outhit Hawaii .312 to .165.
Joby Ramos had 23 assists for Hawaii, and Max Wechsung had 16. Sinisa Zarkovic had 15 kills, and Brook Sedore added 13.
For Northridge, John Baker had 15 kills, and Travis Magorien had 35 assists.
Hawaii had its chances early. The Warriors led 21-20 in the first set after a Brandon Lebrock service error. But Lebrock rebounded with a kill to tie the set at 21.
The Matadors scored the next three points before a Zarkovic kill cut the lead to 24-22. Kyle Stevenson then killed the final point.
Hawaii rebounded with a 26-24 win in the second set. The Warriors trailed 24-23 before scoring the final three points. JP Marks ended that set with a kill.
But the Matadors took the next two sets by comfortable margins.
