The Hawaii Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect caught on video during the theft of a weed whacker. The crime took place in Puna in late January. The suspect appears to be a male with close-cropped dark hair and a thin build.

Anyone who may have witnessed the theft or who has any information about it should call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Officer Kimo Veincent of Puna Patrol at 965-2716. Those who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
