Elaine Marie Ahu, 74, of Hilo, died Feb. 12, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1939, in Hilo, she was a janitor for Waiakea High School.

Lambert Kalani Nalimu, 43, of Keaau died Feb. 4, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a former income tax preparer for H&R Block.

Kaoru Higaki, 81, of Hilo died Feb. 18, 2013, at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Feb. 10, 1932, in Pepeekeo, he was a retired civil engineer employed by the state Department of Accounting and General Services and member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ, South Panaewa Kumiai, American Society of Civil Engineers and former director of Hawaii Island Community Development Corp.

Born Jan. 20, 1940, in Olaa, he retired as a supervisor from the former Hilo Coast Sugar Plantation and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Puna Indians and Umauma Softball Teams andHawaii Army Air National Guard and anArmy veteran.
