Ellen Mary “Aloha” (Stevens) Tanimoto, 79, of Waimea died Feb. 12, 2013, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born Aug. 15, 1933, in Waimea, she was a retired front desk worker from Waimea Country Lodge, a retired employee from Parker Ranch, former clerk from Waimea Credit Union and member of Aha Hui Ka’ahumanu Waimea Chapter, Imiola Congregational Church, Hawaiian Civic Club and Hawaiian Girls Golf Club.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at Imiola Congregational Church in Waimea for 9:30 a.m. honors by the Aha Hui Kaahumanu followed by a 10 a.m. celebration of life. Scattering of ashes is at a later date. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by daughter, Valarie (Ronald) Abran of Honokaa; sisters, Wanda Odetle of Arizona, Winifred Baker of Waimea, Nellie Sonza’Novera of Chicago; brother, Strickland (Jane) Stevens of Waimea; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
