John Fontanilla Anicas, 91, of Hilo died Jan. 18, 2013, at Pohai Malama Hospice Care Facility in Hilo. Born May 6, 1921, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired power plant operator for Ka‘u Agribusiness and member of Pahala United Methodist Church and Parks and Recreation Bowling League in Hilo.
Private services were held.
He is survived by wife, Emilia Anicas of Hilo; son, Steven (Tracy) Anicas of Honolulu; daughters, Melba (Darryl) Quiocho and Susan (Brian) Okamoto, both of Hilo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
