A 23-year-old Kona man is facing two counts 0f terroristic threatening in connection with the Monday lockdown of three West Hawaii schools.
A 23-year-old Kona man is facing two counts 0f terroristic threatening in connection with the Monday lockdown of three West Hawaii schools.
Lyle Kawika Pascubillo was charged Tuesday evening with two counts first-degree terroristic threatening, according to the Hawaii Police Department. His bail was set at $4,000.
The charges stem from a Monday morning report by a 25-year-old Honokaa woman who said she had received numerous threatening phone calls and text messages from an unknown source, according to police. The text messages received allegedly made reference to the threat of violence at Honokaa High and Intermediate School and Waimea Elementary School.
Police contacted officials at the two schools and notified them of the reports received. As a precaution, officials at both of the schools, and Waimea Middle School, placed the campuses in lock down.
Investigation revealed that the suspect was calling from a residence in Kailua-Kona where Kona patrol officers contacted and arrested Pascubillo, according to police. School officials were notified of the arrest and the school’s resumed normal operations.
