Hawaiian Community Assets is accepting submissions for its youth filmmaking contest.
Youth ages 13 to 18 may submit a three- to five-minute video pertaining to housing issues in their community, the link between Native Hawaiian culture and financial concepts, or a financial literacy lesson taught in the Hawaiian language.
“Through this competition HCA seeks to encourage tomorrow’s filmmakers to explore their Hawaiian culture while also learning financial concepts,” HCA’s Americorps VISTA Erin Cavanagh said. “Money and saving is important throughout life. People should learn it at a young age, so what better way to teach it than through the creativity of making a short film?”
As a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, HCA promotes financial education throughout all age groups.
