Lillian Okayo Yamada, 90, of Hilo died Jan. 31, 2013, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Nov. 10, 1922 in Koloa, Kauai, she was an educational assistant at Waimano Home School and a member of Kinoole Baptist Church.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at Life Care Center of Hilo for a celebration of life.
She is survived by sons, Gordon (Ellen) Yamada of San Francisco, Roger (Heidi) Yamada of Denver; daughter, Lila (Raymond) Handa of Hilo; sisters, Mildred (Jon) Ushijima and Amy Ushijima, both of Honolulu; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Francis Kalei Laimana, 78, of Waimanalo, Oahu, died Jan. 27, 2013, in Honolulu.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at St. George Catholic Church in Waimanalo, Oahu, for an 11:30 a.m. Mass. Cremation follows. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Annie Laimana of Waimanalo, Oahu; sons, Francis Laimana Jr. and Michael (Connie) Laimana, both of Hilo, Mike Fink, Harry Laimana and Benjamin Laimana, all of Honolulu; daughters, Myra (Randy) Ioane, Brenda (Rob Reis) Laimana and Faylynn (Sheldon) Karratti, all of Hilo, Imogene (David) Demola of Arizona, Rose (Nestor) Obedo of Las Vegas, Laurie (Jun) Lozano of Honolulu; brothers, Robert (Gloria) Laimana of Honolulu, Albert (Arleen) Laimana of California, William Kaluna and Abraham Kauwe, both of the Big Island; sister, Agnes Oliveira of the Big Island; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-granchildren.
Joseph Hooper
Joseph “Joe” Charles Hooper, 82, of Maihi, Honalo, died Feb. 6, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 19, 1930, in Honalo, he was former mechanic for Mitamura Service Station and Tanaka’s Chevron, and a former landscaper for King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. Feb. 16 at Kona Faith Center in Captain Cook for a 9 a.m. service. Luncheon follows at Daifukuji Soto Mission.
He is survived by son, Mario (Daphne) Hooper Sr. of Maihi, Honalo; daughters, Charlyn (Anthony) DeMello and Jasmine (John) Staup, both of of Maihi, Honalo; hanai son, Chance Hooper of Maihi, Honalo; sister, Violet Hooper of Maihi, Honalo; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Shigeno Oda
Shigeno Oda, 93, of Hilo died Jan. 26, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 24, 1920, in Paukaa, she was a retired elementary school teacher.
Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.
She is survived by sister, Harue Nakahara of Hilo; numerous nephews and nieces.
