The National Weather Service in Honolulu is forecasting waves ranging in height from 6 to 8 feet. A storm in the north Pacific generated the northwest swell fueling the surf.
A high surf advisory means waves along affected shores will be higher than normal, and dangerous rip currents are expected. The service said the surf’s impact should be moderate and urges beachgoers, swimmers and surfers to exercise caution and heed advice given by ocean safety officials.
