The Hawaii Supreme Court has suspended for 45 days Hilo attorney Harry E. Eliason from the practice of law effective Feb. 22.
Eliason’s suspension resulted from his failure to communicate with clients in a timely manner; maintain client trust accounts; deposit unearned client funds into client trust accounts and instead commingling the funds with a personal account; maintain financial records of receipt and disbursement of client funds; and properly withdraw from representation or provide the client a refund in a timely manner, according to the Honolulu-based Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
The office also ordered Eliason, 54, complete, at his own expense, a course on management of client funds offered by the Practicing Attorneys Liability Management Society by July 22.
Eliason was admitted to the Hawaii bar on Oct. 12, 1989, and is graduate of the University of Minnesota.
