Big Island police are renewing their request for the public’s help identifying a man whose partially decomposed body was found at Higashihara Park.

Detectives hope someone will recognize the man from a two-dimensional facial reconstruction developed from the skull recovered at the scene, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
The man may have been a middle-aged homeless Caucasian between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, who frequented the Kainaliu, Kealakekua and Honalo areas, according to police. When found July 19 at Higashihara Park in Keauhou Mauka, he was wearing blue jeans, no shoes and a blue T-shirt depicting the Sponge Bob character and the words “It’s Hip To Be Square.”
The cause of death is still undetermined, according to police.
Police received numerous tips from the public with leads about the man’s possible identity but detectives confirmed that all the persons named were still alive.
Anyone with information on the identity of a person similar to the artist’s sketch is asked to call Detective Walter Ah Mow at 326-4646, ext 238.
