A 41-year-old Japanese visitor was reportedly robbed by three men early Thursday in the downtown Kailua-Kona area.
The man reported that he was attacked around 2:30 a.m. by three men while walking with three of his male friends to his hotel, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The men reportedly knocked the 41-year-old to the ground, punched and kicked him and then took his fanny pack, which contained undisclosed personal items.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Alii Drive and Likana Lane, according to police.
The suspects, described as being local males in their mid-20s, then fled toward Likana Lane, according to police.
The victim sustained scrapes and abrasions to his arms, legs and back, but declined medical attention, according to police.
