Yoshiyuki “Tommy,”“Papoose” Tomiyama, 89, of Kailua, Oahu, died Jan. 25, 2013, at Kohala Hospital. Born April 12, 1923, in Wahiawa, Oahu, he was a retired technical librarian for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and a World Ware II Army veteran who served with the 442 RCT and 100th INF Battalion C Company.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 16 at Gospel of Salvation Church in Kokoiki, North Kohala, for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests no flowers.

Friends may also call at 9 a.m. Feb. 24 at Club 100, 520 Kamoku St., Honolulu, for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests no flowers. A private interment at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Carolyn Tomiyama of Kailua, Oahu; daughters, Sharon (Andy) Goodman and Kay Brooks, both of South Kohala, Kwaj (Willy) Perez of Hawi, Judy Morris of Waimea; sons, Terry-john (April) Tomiyama of Kapaau, Bruce Tomiyama, Brian Tomiyama and Neal Auld, all of Kailua, Oahu; brother, James (Melinda) Nishimura of Pearl City, Oahu; sister, Judy Bertelmann of Manoa, Oahu, Karen Nishimura of Kailua, Oahu; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
