Mabel Mary Garcia, 80, of Hilo died Jan. 14, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a papaya packer for Del Monte Packing Co. and member of New Hope Christian Fellowship.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Jan. 31 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5:30 p.m. service. Friends again may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 1 at the morturary. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughters, Virginia Stephens of Honokaa, Aileen Penovaroff and Phyllis Garcia, both of Hilo, Lenore Sawin of Kona; brother, Dennis Garcia of Nevada; sisters, Josephine Nash, Isabella Flores; Barbara Jackson and Betty Lou Torres, all of Hilo, Margaret Lopez of California,; 25 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
