A 26-year-old Kona man was recently sentenced to a mandatory six years, eight months imprisonment in connection with an array of crimes including methamphetamine trafficking, various drug offenses, burglary, and theft, among other offenses.
A 26-year-old Kona man was recently sentenced to a mandatory six years, eight months imprisonment in connection with an array of crimes including methamphetamine trafficking, various drug offenses, burglary, and theft, among other offenses.
Joseph Augustino Narzisi was sentenced Jan. 17 by 3rd Circuit Court Judge Elizabeth Strance to 20 years in prison with a mandatory minimum term of six years and eight months, according to the Hawaii County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
The convictions stem from an August 2012 Hawaii Police Department investigation of two separate home invasions reported in Kailua-Kona in which Narzisi unlawfully entered the residences on two separate occasions and assaulted the occupants and threatened them with a handgun, according to the office, which noted the incident were believed to be drug-related.
On Aug. 22, a traffic stop for speeding was initiated on a vehicle operated by Narzisi, however, Narzisi refused to stop and a short pursuit commenced before Narzisi fled the vehicle, leaving behind a female passenger and drug paraphernalia, according to the office. A subsequent search warrant executed on the vehicle located glass smoking pipes with methamphetamine residue, syringes with heroin residue, a laptop that was reported stolen, and a U.S. Savings Bond that had also been reported stolen.
On Aug. 28, a search warrant was executed at Narzisi’s Kealakekua apartment where police located drug paraphernalia for methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, testosterone, and alprazolam as well as two handguns and ammunition, according to the office. Also found were electronics that had been reported stolen.
On Aug. 29, police received a tip and arrested Narzisi at an apartment within the Lokahi Apartments in Kailua-Kona. There, another search warrant was executed and police located inside a backpack belonging to Narzisi 63.3 grams of methamphetamine, 178 alprazolam pills, four morphine pills, .9 grams of heroin and various drug paraphernalia, according to the office.
Several vehicles were also located and are pending asset forfeiture. Among the vehicles were: a 2010 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, a 2006 BMW sedan and two motorcycles, according to the office.
