A child transported in critical condition to a Kona hospital has died, bringing the death toll from a Wednesday two-vehicle crash south of Pahala to five.
The crash was reported about 10:15 a.m., according to the Hawaii Police Department. Four adults were found dead when fire rescue personnel and police arrived. The child died after reaching Kona Community Hospital.
