William “Billy” Kaleikuaiwa Lyman, 70, of Hilo, died Jan. 8, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired lieutenant with the Hawaii County Police Department, where he was a silver medal of valor recipient, owner of Lyman’s Investigations and a coach/pitcher of the Hui O Na Kolohe senior softball team, past president and member of the Waiakea Lions and secretary of the board of directors of Lyman Museum.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 26 at Haili Congregational Church for a 10:30 a.m. service. A gathering of family and friends will follow at a location to be announced at the service. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Eileen Tredway of Hilo; sons, Scott Lyman of Los Angeles, Mark (Jen-L) Lyman of Aiea, Oahu, Paul Lyman of Honolulu; brother, Newton (Monica) Lyman Jr. of Hilo; sisters, Tina Whitmarsh and Pearl (Mark Wakeland) Lyman, both of Hilo, Harriet (Wyatt) Crumb of Waikoloa; two granddaughters; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
