The U.S. Geological Service reported a 3.1-magnitude earthquake Thursday afternoon in waters off the South Kona Coast.

The U.S. Geological Service reported a 3.1-magnitude earthquake Thursday afternoon in waters off the South Kona Coast.

According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory website, the 2:26 p.m. earthquake was centered 10 miles west-northwest of Milolii and 14 miles southwest of Hookena. The quake was more than 29 miles deep.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey the temblor was felt as far north as Captain Cook.
