Waves are forecast to range in height from 6 to 8 feet with 10-foot waves possible on Saturday, according to the service. The service also warned that the impact could be greater along windward coasts because an extreme high tide is expected early Saturday.
A high surf advisory means waves along affected shores will be higher than normal, and dangerous rip currents are expected. The service said the surf’s impact should be moderate and urges beachgoers, swimmers and surfers to exercise caution and heed advice given by ocean safety officials.
