A woman suspected of stabbing her boyfriend at a Kaumana Drive home early Monday morning was released from custody pending further investigation.

Big Island police released 37-year-old Cherie Sueko Moskwa of Hilo from custody Wednesday last night after conferring with Hawaii County prosecutors, according to a Police Department media release.

Moskwa was arrested Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of 38-year-old Lloyd Rubio of Hilo. Moskwa was the girlfriend of Rubio, a general contractor.

Police had reported earlier that Moskwa made the 911 call about the stabbing. Rubio was unresponsive when found and was pronounced dead later Monday at Hilo Medical Center.

Rubio was unmarried and co-owned the home with his mother, Karen Rubio. Moskwa reportedly had been in a long-term relationship with Rubio.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation.
