Nursery hosting kombucha recipe class

Nursery hosting kombucha recipe class

Tropical Edibles Nursery will hold a class on creating tasty and healthy kombucha beverages from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 18 at its facility in Captain Cook. The class will demonstrate several recipes for making effervescent kombucha drinks using locally available fruit juices.

Raven Bolas and Dale Sugai will offer instructions on starting and maintaining kombucha cultures, as well as advice on making the beverages. Those attending the class will be given a starter “scoby” so they can begin the process themselves at home. Several recipes will be offered and tastings of the products will be included.

The cost for the class is $30, which covers all instruction, handouts, supplies, recipes and tastings. Advance reservations will ensure sufficient supplies for all. Call the nursery at 328-0420 or email tropicaledibles@gmail.com for more information or to register.
