Yaeko Shimomura

Yaeko Shigezawa Shimomura, 88, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 23, 2012, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 11, 1924, in Puunene, Wailuku, Maui, she was a housewife.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Kona Outdoor Circle, 76-6280 Kuakini Highway, Kailua-Kona, for a 1 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by son, Peter Shimomura of Los Angeles; daughter, Joyce Stabbert of Seattle; brothers, Etsuo (Julia) Shigezawa, Natsuo (Katherine) Shigezawa and Haruo (Ruth) Shigezawa, all of Honolulu, Yoshio (Lee Ann) Shigezawa and George (Aileen) Shigezawa, both of Wailuku, Maui, Kazumi (Esther) Shigezawa of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Annette Sumada of Hilo, Mieko (John) Gash of San Jose, Calif., Fusae Shigezawa of U.S., Satsuki Childers of Kaneohe, Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
