The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for the Big Island’s north-, east- and south-facing shores through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Waves are forecast to range in height from 5 to 8 feet, according to the service.
A high surf advisory means waves along affected shores will be higher than normal, and dangerous rip currents are expected. The service said the surf’s impact should be moderate and urges beachgoers, swimmers and surfers to exercise caution and heed advice given by ocean safety officials.
