In response to a 5:19 a.m. call Monday, South Hilo patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Kaumana Drive, where they found a 38-year-old Hilo man with a stab wound.

The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he died at 7:11 a.m.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section are investigating the case as a second-degree murder.
