John “Johnny Boy” Wise Kamoku Sr., 72, of Hilo died Dec. 29, 2012, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 6, 1940, in Honolulu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local No. 3, a Navy veteran and member of Kamauloa O Ka Malamalama Church, Hui Makai Motorcycle Club, Leianakahinanoopuna and Panaewa Hawaiian Homes Land Community Association.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 9 at Kamauloa O Ka Malamalama Church in Kurtistown, 17-604 Volcano Road (Highway 11), for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests aloha attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Mary Jane Kamoku of Hilo; son, John (Lisa Valle) Kamoku Jr.,of Seattle; daughters, Piilani Kaawaloa, Jessanne (Edward) Paresa and Toni (Orrin) Batalon Kaui, all of Pahoa, Christine (Craig) Edmiston of Tracy, Calif.; sister, Elsie Kihano of Waipahu, Oahu; brother, Jimmy Wise of Volcano; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
