R&G East Bay Tire Company has acquired R&G Tire Center Inc.
Established in 1998, R&G Tire Center has two locations on the Big Island, in Kona and Hilo, and carries a wide variety of consumer, industrial, agricultural, lawn and garden, OTR and commercial truck tires. Rod Carvalho and his wife, Ginger, co-founded R&G Tire Center and have 38 years experience in the industry, both in the retail and commercial sectors. Their daughters, Kim and Jennifer, currently work at the Hilo location. East Bay Tire has had a long-standing relationship with R&G as one of their primary suppliers since they opened for business.
East Bay Tire Co. was founded in 1946 and is a fourth-generation, family owned company that is recognized as a premier tire wholesaler, exporter and commercial dealer that maintains one of the largest and most diverse inventories. The Dawg Pound line of construction, agricultural and material handling tires is manufactured exclusively for East Bay Tire Co.
First shipment of biodiesel launched
Hawaii Petroleum loaded the first tanker of fuel produced at the Big Island Biodiesel facility in Keaau. The fuel is bound for its nearby Hawaii Fueling Network station in Shipman Business Park, which offers 100 percent biodiesel and a 20 percent blend.
HFN has been selling biodiesel produced at Pacific Biodiesel’s facilities on Maui and Oahu at its recently opened station. With Big Island Biodiesel up and running, all of Pacific Biodiesel’s fuel will now be produced at the new facility, which has the ability to process the most degraded recycled vegetable oil feedstock into a high quality biodiesel. The plant incorporates the newest technology that removes trace impurities and results in biodiesel that is clear instead of amber.
