American Legion Kona Post 20 meets at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in Teshima Restaurant’s meeting hall.

Guest speaker Lora Scott will discuss the services offered by the Family Assistance Center for West Hawaii located at the Kealakekua National Guard Armory. The center offers information, resources and referrals for service members, veterans and family members in the following areas: crisis intervention, legal, financial, TRICARE, ID cards and Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System and community information and outreach.

Brain injury group meets Jan. 9

The Brain Injury Support group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 9 at Hawaiian Rehab Services on Hualalai Road in Kailua-Kona.

Attorney Larry Cohn will discuss how personal injury litigation applies to traumatic brain injury cases. This will be an open forum with questions and answers.

All brain injury, stroke or neurotrauma survivors, their families and caregivers, interested professionals and the public are invited.

Soil, water district meets in Waimea

The Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District meets from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation District service center, 67-1185 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 148, Waimea.
