Gun control
Gun control
More laws, really?
How many gun control laws exist currently in the United States? The answer is in excess of 20,000.
Will 20,001 free us from all gun violence?
If laws prevented illegal behavior, wouldn’t Prohibition have worked? Wouldn’t there be no illegal drugs in America? Shouldn’t we be a murder- free country?
Folks, I understand the frustration of not being able to control this craziness. I have a 5-year-old grandson. I think working to make our schools safer through enhanced security measures is a far better solution than to trying vainly to curb gun violence by passing additional useless laws.
No additional gun laws will protect our children.
Do gun laws prevent gun crime? This past weekend David Gregory, the host of “Meet the Press” produced a 30 round magazine for an assault rifle and asked Wayne LaPierre of the NRA why anyone needs such a high-volume clip and why the NRA would defend the legality of such a deadly device.
Ironically, these clips are already illegal in Washington, D.C., and David Gregory had obtained and was possessing this device illegally, proving conclusively gun control measures have little real effect.
Gun violence versus gun ownership is a complex issue but there are two things I know: No matter how hard you try, you can never remove guns from our society and laws only work on the law-abiding, period.

Gun laws
Another suspect
I support the Second Amendment completely. America is unique in allowing its citizens the right to own a gun.
Where assault guns fit in with the Second Amendment is, in my opinion, where machine guns and fully automatic firing guns belong only owned by a Federal Firearms License holder.
There are laws and restrictions in most states, including Hawaii that require an owner to have the gun registered. No more laws are needed in my opinion, just enforce the laws already in place.
Are violent videos games causing these shootings? Maybe. Why not ban these games, too? I wonder why anyone would enjoy games that kill virtual humans.
Something is causing this behavior and these violent games sure seem suspect. It’s just my opinion here, for what it’s worth.
