West Hawaii boating issues and findings of a recent survey of Keauhou Bay moorings will be discussed at two upcoming meetings, according to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources’s Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation.
The survey, conducted in December by consulting firm Sea Engineering, found that outdated moorings in the bay need to be replaced.
The first meeting, occurring from 3 to 5 p.m., is exclusively for current offshore permit-holders who have moorings in the bay. The meeting will be at the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor conference room, 74-380 Kealakehe Parkway in Kailua-Kona.
The second meeting, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will inform the general public about the mooring project, as well as provide an update on repairs to tsunami-damaged facilities and improvements to state small harbors. The meeting will be at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club, 74-380 Kealakehe Parkway in Kailua-Kona.
