Robert Weygand Sr. is teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced photography and a darkroom class beginning Jan. 7. Morning and evening classes will be offered. Film or digital cameras are required to take the class.
The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation in Kona is taking registration for the class through Jan. 4. Class size is limited.

Auxiliary planning membership meeting
Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual membership meeting Jan. 14. All members and any individuals interested in becoming a volunteer are invited to attend a lunch at the Kona Vistas Pavilion on Lako Street mauka of Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
Sen. Josh Green will be guest speaker. Various representatives from the hospital, as well as many auxiliary volunteers, will be available to share information and discuss what the auxiliary provides for the hospital.

Imiloa announces Friday entertainment
An eclectic mix of Friday night programming is coming to the Imiloa Astronomy Center’s planetarium beginning Jan. 4.
“Consolidating our many planetarium evening programs, such as our Maunakea Skies program, Friday night rock show, star and navigation talks, and the ‘3D Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe’ live sky show, gives our patrons a variety of pau hana programs for Friday evenings in the planetarium,” said Planetarium Manager Shawn Laatsch.
The new format kicks off with the “3D Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe” at 7 p.m. Jan. 4. The program takes participants on an engaging tour of the universe.
Pink Floyd’s “The Wall,” where the album is brought to life with a fulldome digital interpretation of its sounds and imagery, begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 11.
Maunakea Skies talks are planned the third Friday of every month.

All cancer support group meets Thursday
You’ll Never Walk Alone meets from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Cancer survivors and co-survivors are invited to attend the group’s free meetings held the first and third Thursdays of every month; light refreshments are served.
