The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for the Big Island’s north-facing shores through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Waves are forecast to range in height from 10 to 15 feet, according to the service. Waves are expected to peak this afternoon.
A high surf advisory means waves along affected shores will be higher than normal and dangerous rip currents are expected. Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break.
