Benjamin Kawakami Sr.

Benjamin “Ben” Hiroshi Kawakami Sr., 69, of Mountain View died Dec. 14, 2012, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired painting contractor and owner of B. Kawakami Painting, a hunter and member of Trinity Community Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 29 at Trinity Community Church in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at the Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Gloria Kawakami of Mountain View; sons, Thomas Kawakami of Seattle, Benjamin (Heidi) Kawakami Jr. of Kurtistown, Dion (Jeanette) Kawakami of Mountain View, Bentley (Jodi) Kawakami of Hilo; sisters, Annabelle (Ernest) Okazaki and Nancy Sato, both of Honolulu; six grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
