The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for the Big Island’s north- and east-facing shores through 6 p.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for the Big Island’s north- and east-facing shores through 6 p.m. Saturday.
The service also issued a high surf advisory for the island’s south-facing shores through 6 a.m. Saturday.
Waves are forecast to range in height from 6 to 10 feet for the affected shores, according to the service.
A high surf advisory means that waves along affected shores will be higher than normal and dangerous rip currents are expected. Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break.
