Nakaiya Kerr netted his fourth straight hat trick, and the undefeated Christian Liberty boys soccer team tuned up for its first big test of the season with another easy victory

Keenan Freitas also scored three goals Wednesday to power the Canefire past Ka’u 9-0 in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II match in Keaau.

Kerr, a junior forward, has scored a league-high 15 goals for the Canefire (5-0), which have outscored their opponents 36-1.

Christian Liberty moved into a three-way tie with Honokaa and Hawaii Prep atop the Division II standings.

The road is about to get tougher, however.

Christian Liberty will face its first opponent with a winning record when it faces defending Division I champion Kealakehe (5-0) on the road at 6 p.m. Friday.

Like Kerr, junior forward Louis Moylan has scored in every match this season, adding his sixth and seventh goals against the Trojans (2-4). Sophomore midfielder Sequo ya Kerr scored his fourth.

Freitas, a senior fullback, has five goals.

Senior goalkeeper Keanu Bergfeld earned the shutout.

c Waiakea 9, Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science 0: Coleman Chaves’ four goals sparked the Warriors to their first victory of the season.

Hajime Hayano scored twice while Matt Otani, Miles Marshall and Quinton Coltes added a goal apiece for Waiakea (1-6) in a match played at St. Joseph High School.

The lineup for Na Naia (0-7) featured as many as four girls.

Girls

c Ka’u 2, Christian Liberty 1: Kawai Houvener and Kaila Olson scored as the visiting Trojans earned their first win, improving to 1-4.

Taylor Feato found the back of the net for the Canefire (0-6).
