The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for the Big Island’s north-, south- and east-facing shores through 9 a.m. Friday.
The service forecast waves ranging in height from 6 to 10 feet. The surf is forecast to remain at advisory levels through Friday morning.
A high surf advisory means that waves along affected shores will be higher than normal and dangerous rip currents are expected. Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break.
