A 22-year-old Kailua-Kona man is facing robbery, assault and theft charges in connection with a Nov. 26 reported robbery in a parking lot at Alii Sunset Plaza in Kailua-Kona.

A 22-year-old Kailua-Kona man is facing robbery, assault and theft charges in connection with a Nov. 26 reported robbery in a parking lot at Alii Sunset Plaza in Kailua-Kona.

Kekoa Duguran was arrested and charged on Tuesday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and third-degree theft in connection with incident, according to the Hawaii Police Department. Duguran, who is the fourth man charged in connection with the reported robbery, is being held on $76,000 bail.

The charges stem from a 26-year-old Kealakekua man reporting that he had been punched, kicked and had his backpack stolen by five or six men after meeting a local man at a bar who subsequently him to the northwest corner of the parking lot, according to police. The victim was treated for a fractured jaw and minor cuts and scrapes at Kona Community Hospital.

Police continue to ask for help from anyone who witnessed the attack or saw the victim talking with a local man in the Coconut Grove area. The victim was wearing shorts and a striped tank top and was carrying a backpack, according to police.
