So much for seedings.

So much for seedings.

Jordan Kamimura entered his 400-yard individual medley relay final Saturday with the sixth-fastest time. The Warrior Aquatic Club swimmer then turned it on to win gold at the state age group short course championships on Oahu.

Finals were only held in the boys and girls 400 IM during the second day of the meet, but it was still a productive one for Big Islanders.

Kamimura won the 15-16 final in 4 minutes, 19.04 seconds, while Ryan Bisel, Kamimura’s club and Hilo High teammate, took second.

Three Kona Aquatics swimmers, all of Kealakehe, won medals on the girls side. Leahi Camacho took silver in the 15-16 race, while Madison Hauanio and Cara Jernagin finished 2-3 in the older division.

A day after winning two golds, Hilo Aquatic Club’s Beth Tsuha won her preliminary for today’s 200 freestyle final.

Jernigan won her 100 breaststroke preliminary, just ahead of Hilo Aquatic Club’s Madisyn Uekawa, the top seed. The other isle swimmer to win a prelim was Kona Aquatics’ Aye Chan San Tun (boys 11-12) in the 50 butterfly.
