Zhineng qigong workshop planned
for Kokolulu

Qigong master Liu Jianshe will lead a weeklong zhineng qigong workshop and evening healing circles Jan. 6 to 10 at Kokolulu Farm in Hawi.

Those who practice zhineng qigong use its exercises to help prevent or heal any illness they have using their energy to speed up the process.

Jianshe believes qigong can bring hope to humanity and harmony to the world. He has witnessed its healing power having worked for many years at the Huaxia Qigong Centre, also known as the “medicine-less hospital.”

In addition to the workshop, Jianshe will make public presentations from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at Tutu’s House and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at Kokolulu.

Seniors group
plans excursion

The Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai then travels to the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel to view the annual Charity Trees display. A $1 donation is required to vote for a favorite tree.

The group will have lunch at Queens’ MarketPlace afterward.

Cancer support group meets Thursday

Cancer support group You’ll Never Walk Alone meets from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Survivors and co-survivors are invited to attend; light refreshments are served.

West Hawaii Band presents concert

The West Hawaii Band celebrates the holidays, performing works such as Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival” and Mel Torme’s “A Christmas Song” during its free December Lights concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. The public is invited to sing along to “Silver Bells,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Mele Kalikimaka” while the band performs these and other seasonal hits.
