Furry family members were invited to Hualalai Academy’s recent Pet Day. Cats, dogs and birds joined in a parade, which also included stuffed animals and other “pets,” such as shrimp, a giant stuffed spider and even an ostrich egg. One of the animals, a goat, last year marched in the parade as a kid. This year, the goat is expecting a child of her own.

Gared Sarubbi-Monell said of his first Pet Day, “I really enjoyed petting the parrot, and it sat on my arm, too.”

“We had lots of fun and we got surrounded by kids who petted Charlie,” said Sean Pace, who brought his rabbit, Charlie.
